Biography
London welcomed Dawson Millward on 13 July 1865, and the city would remain his lifelong stage. Between its gas-lit theatres and early film studios he built a career that flickered into immortality: he anchored the melodrama Altar Chains in 1916, then slipped into the skin of two 1921 classics—Alfred Hitchcock’s The Skin Game and the big-screen take on The Magistrate. The final curtain fell on 15 May 1926, back in the same streets where his story began.
