Biography
Dennis Cleugh first drew breath in 1881 amid the rolling downs of Sussex, England. A decade and a half later he stepped before the cameras to breathe life into A Good Little Devil (1914), the film that still carries his name. Off-screen he shared his life—and a surname—with Sophia Olivia Sadler, the novelist who published as Sophia Cleugh. His own final curtain fell on 2 November 1928, far from the English coast, in New York City.
