Biography
Dewey Beard, a Miniconjou Lakota survivor of Wounded Knee, stepped before the camera in 1914 to re-enact the battles he had lived through for the silent docudrama The Indian Wars, turning his own memory into one of the earliest on-screen records of the Plains conflicts.
