Biography
On a winter day in Birmingham—21 December 1866—Dick Bernard drew his first breath, beginning a life that would play out across two continents and two eras of entertainment. Silent screens later knew him as the calculating spouse in Bluebeard’s Seven Wives (1925) and as the hapless title character in Poor Schmaltz (1915). Off-camera he shared his life with actress Marguerite Reardon. Just four days after marking his fifty-ninth birthday, Bernard’s final curtain fell in New York City on 25 December 1925.
