Biography
Brooklyn, 1875: the borough delivered Dora Mills Adams into the world, and sixty-eight years later it closed the curtain for her. Between those two dates she stepped before the camera just long enough to leave a bright after-image. In 1917 she traded cons and quips in *The Square Deceiver*, two years later she matched wits with the title rogue in *Piccadilly Jim*, and in 1920 she felt the chill of Stevenson’s split personality in *Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde*. After the final reel she slipped back into the city’s restless tide, dying quietly at home on 31 July 1943.
