According to a photo in the New York Daily News, Sunday July 29, 1934, on page 64 Doris Atkinson was plucked from her high school play for movie stardom by Jack Warner himself. Photo caption says she is being shown about the film studio by Archie Mayo, director. "Jack Warner saw girl acting in high school play, and offered her a contract."
