Biography
A Roxbury winter brought Edgar L. Davenport into the world on 7 February 1862, and from that chill he forged a stage-and-screen fire that blazed through the early days of cinema. Audiences first felt his force in 1911’s swashbuckling *The Black Arrow*, then watched him shoulder epic grandeur in 1915’s *Samson* and charge into imperial adventure the same year in *Four Feathers*. The curtain fell for good on 24 July 1918, when Boston claimed back its native son, leaving the reels to keep his pulse alive.
