Biography

Silver-screen chameleon Edward Boring slipped into audiences’ lives long before Hollywood had soundstages. He first turned heads as the relentless detective in 1913’s Traffic in Souls, the era’s white-hot exposé of urban vice. Three years later he traded city shadows for Arabian moonlight, playing the heroic prince who braves mermaids and magic in the million-dollar spectacle A Daughter of the Gods. By 1921 he was back on familiar ground, navigating the searing marital drama of Passion Flower alongside a luminous all-star cast. On 18 June 1923 the curtain rang down for good in his adopted hometown of New York City, closing an eclectic career that helped shape the grammar of early American film.
