Biography
A February chill greeted Edward O’Connor’s first cry on 20 February 1862 along Dublin’s Liffey-side streets. By the time flickering film replaced footlights, he had swapped the smoky stages of home for American cameras, lending a craggy Irish presence to The Gilded Kidd (1914), Cecilia of the Pink Roses (1918), and Kathleen Mavourneen (1919). Sixty-eight summers later, on 15 May 1932, the final curtain fell for him in the electric whirl of New York City.
