Biography
June 1856 found Edward Warren squalling into the world on a Boston morning; by the time the 20th century unspooled he had traded the cobblestones for klieg lights, stepping in front of the camera before sliding behind it to pull the strings. In 1915 he sent a generation of boys scrambling into makeshift tents with *The Adventures of a Boy Scout*, then turned his lens on the tangled threads of *The Weavers of Life* (1917) and the moral battlefields of *The Warfare of the Flesh* that same year. The final curtain rang down on 3 April 1930 in Los Angeles, but the flickers he crafted still race across screens, keeping their maker forever in motion.
