Biography
Brooklyn-born in 1885, Edyth Totten stepped onto the silent screen just as the medium was finding its voice, lending her presence to the 1914 morality tale *A Factory Magdalen*. Off-camera, she shared her life with Russell Moore Fanning. Sixty-eight years after her first breath in Manhattan, she drew her last on Welfare Island—today’s Roosevelt Island—on 12 November 1953.
