Biography
On a winter’s day in 12 December 1866, the small village of Ádánd welcomed Elemér Hetényi into the world—little knowing he would grow into one of Hungary’s early cinema pioneers. Behind the camera and before it, Hetényi shaped stories that flickered across silent screens: he steered the 1918 drama *Palika*, captured the forbidden pulse of *Az apacsnö szerelme* in 1913, and gave life to the schoolroom passions of *A tanítónö* four years later. His final curtain fell on 14 June 1941 in Kolozsvár, but the images he crafted still move through time.
