Biography
On 20 January 1883, Buenos Aires gave the stage its first cry: Elías Alippi. Between curtain and camera he built a life in light—directing and embodying stories that still flicker: the tangled desperation of *Callejón sin salida* (1938), the patched memories of *Retazo* (1939), the buoyant charm of *El mejor papá del mundo* (1941). Fifty-nine springs after his opening night, the city drew its final curtain on him; 3 May 1942, the same streets that once applauded him cradle his silence.
