Composer, singer, songwriter and author, he joined ASCAP in 1946 and composed popular country-and-western and cowboy songs including "When a Cowboy is Happy", "Over the Trail", "Chime Bells", "Tall Cedars", "Weep No More My Darling", "Dusty Old Trunk in the Attic", and "I'll Be Crying Over You".
