Biography
Emmy Albiin first drew breath on 9 June 1873 amid the cobblestones and gas-lamps of Stockholm, Stockholms län. Over the decades she stepped before cameras and audiences alike, etching her name into Swedish cinema with performances in Victor Sjöström’s spectral masterpiece *The Phantom Carriage* (1921), the rustic comedy *Smålänningar* (1935), and the wartime drama *Striden går vidare* (1941). Away from the arc-lights she shared her life—and eventually her surname—with Karl Albin Johannesson, who later became Karl Albiin. Her final curtain fell in the same city where her story began, on 24 May 1959.
