Biography
Emmy Lynn first bewitched Parisian footlights, then leapt into flickering silent close-ups, her name glowing on marquees while her heart strayed to the director’s chair of Henri Roussel—actor, pioneer, and the man who gave her a red-haired daughter, Gladys Lynn-Gautier, on 22 September 1922. The girl briefly inherited the spotlight, bowing out in 1946 to wed académicien Jean-Jacques Gautier and trade scripts for scholarly soirées. Emmy herself walked down a different aisle in 1936, exchanging Roussel’s restless set for the solid fortune of typographic magnate Charles Peignot; he remained a widower after her final curtain, living on until 1983.
