Biography
A December baby of imperial Russia, Esme Hubbard entered the world on 11 December 1879 and stepped before the camera just as cinema was finding its voice. Between 1916 and 1917 she slipped into Milestones, chased through The Great Adventure, and traded identities in In Another Girl’s Shoes, three silents that still whisper her name. Fifty-four springs later, on 12 April 1951, the curtain fell for the last time in Ealing, London, leaving the screen forever brighter for her fleeting glow.
