Biography
A London midwinter’s day—22 February 1856—delivered Etienne Girardot to the world, and from that moment the stage became his lifelong address. Decades later, Hollywood reels captured his razor-sharp comic timing in rapid succession: he cracked The Kennel Murder Case in 1933, untangled The Dragon Murder Case in 1934, and cultivated clues in The Garden Murder Case in 1936. Off-screen, Dr. Violetta Shelton stood beside him as both wife and intellectual match. The curtain finally fell on 10 November 1939 in Hollywood, California, closing the account of a transatlantic career that leapt effortlessly from West End boards to California soundstages.
