Before the talkies ever whispered, Felice Carena was already shaping shadows on celluloid: in 1914 he spirited audiences away with *Le astuzie di Nelly*, followed two years later by the Piedmont-set drama *Le due orfanelle di Torino*, and capped the silent decade with 1918’s *La capanna dello zio Tom*, proving his camera caught stories faster than sound ever could.
