Biography
Born in Kecskemét on a sharp-winter 4 February 1884, Flóra Fáy stepped onto the stage just as Hungarian cinema was learning to walk. Between 1913 and 1918 she slipped into three surviving silents—Bernáték színházba mennek, Liliomfi and Sergius Panin—each frame still carrying the echo of her quicksilver presence. Off-screen she shared her life with actor-director Lajos Ujváry; together they navigated a country in upheaval and an art form in flux. Fáy’s curtain fell early, in Budapest, on 2 December 1929, but the flicker of her performances keeps the light on.
