Biography
A Virginian by birth—23 May 1898—Florence McLaughlin stepped before the camera when Hollywood was still inventing itself. Over a four-year blaze of silent pictures she slipped into three vastly different skins: the adventuress of *Through Fire to Fortune* (1914), the wronged woman in *Stranded* (1916), and the calculating rival of *The Other Girl* (1917). After the lights dimmed on her film career, she slipped quietly into private life, dying at 74 on 15 December 1972 in Rocky River, Ohio.
