Biography
Born in the timber-country quiet of Manchester, Michigan, on 26 June 1842, Frank D. Baldwin traded small-town stillness for the flicker of early movie lights. Three decades after the Civil War drums faded, he rode into cinema history—first as the battle-scarred narrator of The Indian Wars (1914), then beside the showman himself in The Adventures of Buffalo Bill (1917). The cameras stopped rolling, but Baldwin kept riding west; he took his final breath under Denver’s wide sky on 22 April 1923.
