Biography
Hamilton, Ontario, welcomed Frank Powell into the world on 8 May 1877, and by the time the silent-film era flickered to life he was already shaping its grammar. Between 1915 and 1917 he steered three features into the spotlight: the glittering court intrigue of Princess Romanoff, the razor-sharp marital mystery Mrs. Balfame, and the provocative drama The Greater Woman. Away from the set, he shared his life with actress Jane Miller, his wife and sometime collaborator.
