Biography
On a spring morning in 1870s Hamburg, 25 May 1880, Franz Schönemann drew his first breath—little hinting that footlights and film stock would later chronicle that life. His career arcs from the silent elegance of 1914’s The Perfect Thirty-Six, through the post-war shadows of 1919’s Halbe Unschuld, to the wartime studios of 1940 where he steered audiences Between Hamburg and Haiti. Sixty years after that cinematic voyage, on 2 March 1960, the curtain fell for the last time.
