Biography
June 1878: a baby’s first cry echoed above the clatter of horse-drawns cabs in Islington, London—Fred Morgan had arrived. Within three decades he had slipped into the skin of villains and lovers for the still-novel flicker of cinema, animating East Lynne’s drawing-room anguish in 1913, dodging the law in 1915’s Flying from Justice, and confronting a shape-shifting horror in 1919’s The Beetle. The lights dimmed for the last time on 11 May 1941, when London’s own air-raid darkness claimed him, leaving the reels to spin his memory forever.
