Biography
A Dubliner drawn to footlights and film stock alike, Fred O’Donovan first drew breath on 13 October 1884. Between the Abbey stage and bustling early studios he shaped stories: he steered *The Eleventh Hour* in 1916, slipped into the skin of *General John Regan* for the 1934 talkie, and let romance bloom in 1918’s *When Love Came to Gavin Burke*. Off-screen, wedding bells rang thrice—with Joyce Chancellor, Muriel Jameson, and Lilian Golding. His final curtain fell in London on 19 July 1952.
