Biography
Toronto greeted Fred Woodward on 26 April 1882, and by 1914 he had stepped before the camera to breathe life into Oz’s patchwork heroine and a straw-stuffed monarch. A year later he traded emerald cities for sawdust rings in The Country Circus, sealing a brief but memorable silent-era career. He exited life’s stage on 26 March 1960, far west of his birthplace, in Victoria, British Columbia.
