Biography
Toronto welcomed Frederick Roland on 12 November 1885, and from that first winter onward he carried a flair for drama that soon spilled onto the screen. Audiences first felt his pulse in the silent patriotism of Hearts of Oak (1914), then tasted his ambition in The Price of Ambition (1915), and finally laughed through the drought-busting charm of The Rainmakers (1935). The journey ended under California sun on 2 June 1936, when Los Angeles became his final stage.
