Biography
Before the world tilted into the Great War, a camera found Gentile Miotti on a Cinecittà-less Rome lot and cast him as the brooding heartthrob of Love Everlasting (1914). Two reels earlier he had staggered through a mountain cloudburst in Acquazzone in montagna (1913) and chased phantom passengers aboard Il treno degli spettri (1913), sealing a trifecta of silver-tinted shorts that survives today as proof that, for one frantic year, Miotti lived many lives in the flicker of a hand-cranked projector.
