Biography
George Bickel first drew breath on a winter’s day—17 February 1863—in the lumber-boom town of Saginaw, Michigan. Decades later, moviegoers would laugh at his comic timing in Recaptured Love (1930) and Soup to Nuts (1930), while political satire got an early jolt from his roguish charm in The Politicians (1915). Off-screen, he shared his life with actress Beatrice Boston, his wife and frequent stage partner. His final curtain fell in Los Angeles on 5 June 1941, closing a career that spanned vaudeville, Broadway, and the first golden age of film.
