Biography
George Stevens drew breath for the first time on 1 December 1859 amid London’s fog-choked streets. Before cameras rolled, he trod the boards—then stepped in front of them—leaving flickering footprints in A Million Bid (1914), slipping into My Lady’s Slipper (1916), and finally storming out of Come Out of the Kitchen (1919). Off-screen, he claimed Katherine L. as his lifelong scene partner. The curtain fell for good on 20 August 1940 in New York City, where the skyline replaced the footlights for his final bow.
