Biography
Paris welcomed Georges Melchior on 15 September 1889, and the city’s bright footlights soon claimed him. Between 1913’s two landmark Fantômas installments—In the Shadow of the Guillotine and The Dead Man Who Killed—he stalked across the early silver screen as the gentleman of crime, then reappeared eight years later in the eerie odyssey of Missing Husbands. The curtain fell for good on 2 September 1944 in Levallois-Perret, but the flicker of his performances still haunts the reels.
