Biography
Paris welcomed Georges Renavent on 23 April 1892, and the city’s boulevards clearly taught him how to command attention. By the time sound arrived in Hollywood he had already slipped into the movies, leaving suave fingerprints on Rio Rita (1929), swaggering through Old Hickory (1939), and stealing scenes in Preston Sturges’s Sullivan’s Travels (1941). Off-screen, romance kept pace with adventure: he wed Selena Royle, later Gabrielle Perrier, and finally Gladys Dulcina. The final curtain fell on 2 January 1969 in Guadalajara, Mexico, but the flicker of his performances keeps the applause alive.
