Biography
A winter baby of 1875, Grace Leigh drew her first breath in England just as the Victorian stage began to hunger for new faces. Within four decades she had stepped before the camera, lending her regal poise to the pioneering historical drama *The Seats of the Mighty* (1914) and then to the cautionary romance *The Spendthrift* (1915). Off-screen, she shared her life with fellow performer Lionel Mackinder. Her final curtain fell on 24 June 1950 in the Cotswold village of Box, Gloucestershire, where the hills echo with memories of the bright lights she once commanded.
