Biography
On a winter’s day in 1849, the village of Takácsi welcomed a restless child who would grow into the man the cameras later knew as Gyula Dezséri. Between 1917 and 1923 he stepped before the crank-handled cameras of Hungary’s silent era, lending his weathered face to A tanítónö, chasing shadows in A vadorzó, and guarding the fragile honor of Leánybecsület. When the final reel stopped turning, he remained in Budapest, where, on 5 December 1928, the city that had watched him perform claimed him for good.
