Biography
Harry A. Pollard entered the world on 23 January 1879 amid the prairie winds of Republic City, Kansas. In time he traded the quiet plains for flickering footlights and, later, for the director’s megaphone, guiding silent-era audiences through The Quest (1915), steering them into the roaring engines of California Straight Ahead (1925), and keeping them on edge until the stroke of midnight in Tonight at Twelve (1929). Off-screen he shared his life with actress Margarita Fischer, his creative partner and wife. His final curtain fell on 6 July 1934 in sun-washed Pasadena, California.
