Biography
Kensington, 22 March 1859: a city street of horse-drawn cabs and gas-lit theatres welcomed Harry Brett into the world. By the time cinema began to flicker, he had already traded the boards for celluloid, lending his presence to three early British one-reelers—My Old Dutch, The Bottle (both 1915) and A Fallen Star (1916). His scenes outlived him; he did not. On 28 May 1918, in the cathedral quiet of Salisbury, Wiltshire, the curtain fell for the last time.
