Biography
Harry Edwards first drew breath on 11 October 1887 amid the dust and ambition of Calgary, Alberta. Behind the camera he became a conjurer of slapstick and snappy dialogue, steering comedies such as His First Flame (1927), His Tale Is Told (1944) and the wartime romp Snooper Service (1945). Off-set, his romantic script was just as eventful: he swapped vows with four leading ladies—Jacqueline (Freeman) Wertheimer, Evelyn Brent, Gladys Brockwell and Louise Glaum. The final curtain fell on 26 May 1952 in Los Angeles, California, closing a life that had moved from Canadian frontiers to Hollywood soundstages.
