Biography
Harry Gilbey stepped before the camera when British cinema was still finding its voice: in 1915 he brought Dickens’s hot-headed apprentice Barnaby Rudge to life, returned two years later to navigate the tangled affections of The Eternal Triangle, and by 1921 had traded youthful fire for the comic excess of Mr. Pickwick’s wide-eyed wanderings.
