Biography
A Pennsylvania coal-town kid who first saw daylight on 20 November 1889 in tiny Vale, Harry Gripp traded the clang of the mines for the klieg lights of silent pictures. Between 1915 and 1927 he slipped into three very different skins: the harried suburbanite of The Suburban, the brooding Irish rogue of Kathleen Mavourneen, and the calculating schemer at the heart of Blood Will Tell. When the cameras finally stopped turning he slipped back home, living quietly until his final curtain fell in Tyrone, Pennsylvania, in 1953.
