Biography
Harry LaPearl first drew breath on 10 October 1884 in Danville, Illinois, and spent the next six decades turning that breath into scene-stealing performances. Between 1915 and 1917 he slipped into the skins of rogues, romantics, and daredevils, most memorably in The Flying Twins, Still Waters, and Polly of the Circus. Off-screen he shared his life—if not his marquee—with a woman named Loretta whose surname he kept as private as his own inner thoughts. The final curtain fell on 14 January 1946 in Los Angeles, California, closing the picture on a man who had traded Illinois prairie dust for the glow of silent-film footlights.
