Biography
Harry Royston first drew breath on 7 September 1864 amid the mill-smoked streets of Bradford, West Yorkshire. A century ago’s screens flickered to life thanks to his performances in three early cinematic gems—Barnaby Rudge (1915), Oliver Twist (1912), and David Copperfield (1913). The curtain fell for good on 7 March 1941 in Twickenham, Middlesex, closing a life that had helped shepherd Dickens’s pages into the flickering dawn of film.
