Biography
A winter’s day in Washington, D.C. saw the arrival of Helen Lackaye on 10 January 1883. By her early thirties she had stepped before the cameras, lending her poise to the serialized adventure *Neal of the Navy* (1915) and later sharpening her talent in the silent thriller *The Knife* (1918). Away from the screen she shared her life with husband Herbert Johnson Ridings. Her final curtain fell in Jersey City, New Jersey, on 19 October 1940.
