Biography
Before the talkies roared in, Henry Kernan stepped through the flicker of 1916 and 1917 with three one-reel lightning bolts: the campaign spoof Paste and Politics, followed in rapid succession by the con-artist caper Dummies and Deceptions and the gas-lamp mystery A Dark Room Secret. In that whirlwind year he moved from political pratfalls to shadowy intrigues, leaving audiences of the late nickelodeon era peering into darkened rooms and laughing at mirrored cons—all without ever uttering a single word on-screen.
