Biography
Born in the coastal town of Pori on 30 July 1892, Hilarius Pohjanheimo stepped onto the early Finnish film scene while the medium itself was still learning to walk. Between 1913 and 1915 he shaped stories both in front of and behind the camera, guiding the revenge-thrilled *Kosto on suloista* (1913), guarding the hidden-clause drama *Salainen perintömääräys* (1914), and bottling Nordic sunlight for *Kesä* (1915). Pohjanheimo’s life ended at Nurmijärvi on 26 February 1932, but the flickers he helped coax onto silver sheets outlived him, carrying his name through the decades.
