Biography
Before the roaring twenties had a voice, Howard Cody was already whispering through the flicker of silver nitrate. Audiences first felt his pulse in 1914 when The Exploits of Elaine tightened its cliff-hanging grip; he returned the next year to push the serial further with The New Exploits of Elaine, proving lightning could indeed strike twice in the same reel. Two years later, as Europe trembled on the brink of war, Cody stepped into Patria (1917), a fiery blend of espionage and patriotism that wrapped American pluck around Japanese saboteurs. Three titles, three short years—his shadow still dances across the archives of early screen daring.
