A creative pioneer of the early Russian screen, Ippolit Rapgof was born in Saint Petersburg on September 7, 1860. Blending the arts of performance and prose, he made a lasting mark as both an actor and a writer during cinema's formative years. He is most recognized for his work on the 1914 production 'Sonka zolotaya ruchka' and the 1915 drama 'Doch isterzannoy Pol'shi.'
