Biography
A winter baby—13 February 1889—Isabel Rea first drew breath in Coxsackie, New York, a Hudson River hamlet that would bookend her life. Before the town’s map had even settled, she was already trading small-town quiet for the flicker of early movie lights, stepping in front of cameras still learning how to see. In 1914 she spun heartbreak into art as the title dreamer of *Gwendolin*, then slipped behind disguises for *Behind the Mask* (1915) and took the wheel in the breezy one-reeler *Arline's Chauffeur* the same year. When the applause dimmed she drifted home, and there—on 14 September 1961—Coxsackie claimed her back, the circle of her 72 years quietly closing where it began.
