On 20 February 1842, amid the rolling hills of Diósjenõ, Hungary, István Szentgyörgyi drew his first breath—launching a life that would stride across stage and, later, flicker onto the silver screen. Moviegoers still recognize his weathered face from three silent landmarks: the 1916 village chronicle *A peleskei nótárius*, the tender classroom drama *A tanítónö* the following year, and the 1918 cavalry tale *A vén bakancsos és fia, a huszár*.
