Biography
A New Jersey native born on 21 August 1887, James Dent built a Hollywood résumé that straddled both sides of the camera. He shepherded productions such as the 1931 romantic comedy Indiscreet, the same year’s lively Kiki, and—long before sound entered pictures—helped steer the 1915 drama The Goddess. Dent also stepped in front of the lens on occasion, adding performer to his behind-the-scenes résumé. He spent his final years in Los Angeles, California, where he died on 16 June 1961.
